I know, right? Still have the tiny veggie proudly on display in my kitchen window. Probably the only Mini we’ll ever have.
As far as the butternut bone-heads go, they were hunks of burnin’ love, Elizabeth. Healthy yet satisfying!

I was just called as the food storage specialist and there is nothing special about my lack of knowledge on the subject. Sure, we have some food storage, but I feel far from prepared to be giving advice to others on the matter. I appreciate your efforts and your willingness to share your recipes and ideas. Hopefully it will help me with my calling. I really just don’t know where to start?

Ahem.
Brief History of Costumes Sewn, To Date:
2 Jasmines
2 50’s girl awesome poodle skirts
White Rabbit
Scarecrow
Gypsy
Princesses, at least four
4 Pioneer Girls, including sunbonnets

Then I hit the Halloween wall and happily asked their Dad to take a turn one year…
We had a bloody hutchback, a bloody boxer, and two bloody soccer players. (All before #5 was even born.)

Mike EASILY won out as the favorite costume artist. I totally learned my lesson. From that year on, the policy was recycle something from the costume box OR talk to your father!

As I was sewing up the remaining costume stuffs… I let the boys know that next year and every year after they are all going as clowns for the rest of their lives living at home!….

Don’t feel bad about being a Not-so-fun mom on halloween. I feel the same way.

When my three older kids were still young I decided I was done with the trick or treating thing and the costumes and the entire halloween thing, we could find some other fun activity to do instead. My next door neighbor was very upset with me to think that I was going to deny my children this very wonderful experience and said if I didn’t get them a costum and let them go trick or treating and snap out of this bad vibe I was in, she was going to take my kids and do it for them. I should have taken the opportunity to get ride of them right then and there, what was I thinking!!

To make a long story short, I’m still doing the halloween thing so that my younger son can have that wonderful childhood experience. I still don’t like halloween!

p.s. I happen to absolutely love my neighbor, she is like a sister to me, even when she has to set me straight

That is the cutest little butternut squash I’ve ever seen! Ours were hailed out this year – I ended up buying some on sale at the supermarket (egads!)
