We did end up having many, many dogs, and even fish and a couple birds, but the cat was absolutely not on our list. Rosie was determined to try! I don't think we taught her that determination. Just like her tall, sender build, she was just born with it. When people asked me how she could move to Singapore, by herself, at age 17, I thought, "Oh, you don't know Rosemary." We knew she could handle it because we had been living with her, every day. I felt like a bad mommy too, Kris. I could have shot him, what was he thinking!!! (Leon and I decided long ago that we don't do pets. Gold fish, maybe but definately not dogs or cats) Anyway he asked Leon and I to think it over and left. Knowing how badly the older kids wanted a dog my dad just knew that by leaving one at the house I would change my mind. I didn't and called him back to come get the puppy. Not only did my kids cry, they wouldn't speak to me for days. They still haven't gotten over it. Bad mommy.
