I just mixed up some powdered milk for the family, about 10 minutes ago. I'm hoping that they'll use it at least for their chocolate milk fixes. You have lots more know how than me, Carolyn, but I'm trying to learn more tricks of the trade. Like you, I'm thankful for parents that set a good example with food storage. The Lord's way always pays!

Leisa,
I read your "Get a job, Ya Bum" post and while I groan about powdered milk, I have been grateful that I had the stomach and a bit of know how to use it. Not to mention that parents who set the example with food storage. It is blessing us now in tough times.

Today, in Gospel Doctrine, the instructor talked about tithing. While we haven't struggled to pay tithing, it is still a commandment that is challenging. We pay it willingly, and we pay it fully. But we know that the reason we are not on welfare is because we did pay it and were obedient in other areas. The Lord has truly blessed us.

This doesn't have anything to do with this particular post but I wanted to tell you I have made your Fiesta Wheat and Bean Salad twice since I bought your book at Costco. I took some to three families with a bag of chips--two people who are fighting cancer and one whose mother had died. I had cooked too much wheat and beans so I served homemade yogurt and fresh strawberries over some of the wheat and froze the beans. We had another death in our ward this week and so I made the recipe again--it was so nice to have the beans already cooked--and gave some to the family with a bag of chips and some to another family and I have been eating ours on corn tortillas, fried in a little olive oil for BREAKFAST. Odd, I know but I love it.

Thanks for your great book and generousity. I am starting to put your info. in our Relief Society bulletin. Thanks for giving me permission to do that. I will always give your name, the name of your book and blog. Can't wait to try the carrot salad.
