Fresh Ingredients

Romaine lettuce or baby spinach

crumbled feta cheese

Storage Ingredients

1 can pears (29 oz.)

1 cup chopped pecans (These may be lightly toasted with a little sugar, if you like. I like.)

Briannas Poppy Seed salad dressing

If you like, toss pecan pieces  (about 1 cup) with sugar (about 3 tablespoons) in a hot pan just until the sugar begins to stick to the nuts. Remove from heat and allow to cool on a plate. Prepare a bed of torn lettuce, or spinach leaves, on 6 individual salad plates. Drain and slice the pears and then add them on top of the greens. Sprinkle with crumbled feta cheese. Drizzle with salad dressing and top with candied nuts.

Lovely Lynda in Las Vegas shared this lucsiously laid-back salad recipe. It’s been a family favorite for years! Besides tasting great, this refreshing salad is easy to prepare and another creative way to enjoy canned pears from my three-month supply food storage.

I need to buy a case of Brianna’s poppyseed dressing.

No kidding Elizabeth. I’ve brought this to very large and slightly formal buffets (formal buffets?) and heard people comment again and again on what a great combination of flavors it is. They don’t know that they’re eating salad from my food storage. Bwa-ha-ha!

This really is a yummy salad, I may just have to make it to go with Easter dinner.

    That’s what IIIIIIII’m doing! xo

I think having Brianna’s Poppyseed dressing in my foodstorage will get me through many hard times! It’s my favorite. Another good foodstorage salad using the same dressing is:

Baby Spinach (grow it in your own garden)
    dried cranberries
    slivered or chopped almonds

  6. Liesa Says:

Hi Jenny! Thanks for the salad tip. Next time I see Brianna’s on sale I’m going to buy a small stash!

  7. Kristine Says:

Yum! This lucsiously laid back little salad was a hit at the Easter dinner and oh so easy to put together. Thank you Lovely Lynda in Las Vegas, this one goes in the “keeper” file.

I agree Kris! I’m so glad Lynda served this to my family. She’s an amazing cook. Everything she makes is wonderful!
