COMING SOON TO A STORE NEAR YOU

Turns out that the book will soon be in stores.  A distributor has contacted me and asked for the “opportunity to distribute” I Dare You To Eat It…IN THE NATIONAL MARKET!  I’m supposed to sign the contract tomorrow.

At first it felt like I was that person who gets called out of the audience to make a shot from half court (and this is the complete extent of what I know about basketball) for the Hawaiian vacation…and…MAKES IT!!!

Then it was time to take Lizzie to her piano lesson, race home, quickly serve dinner to the family and race out the door for a two and a half hour meeting with the Stake Relief Society Presidency. Don’t get me wrong, I shared the good news all along the way, but I still can’t believe it. I never really thought this would happen so I’m very very surprised.

More than anything I’m thrilled that the message of I Dare You To Eat It will be available in a variety of markets. More food in more homes is the goal. Deseret Book told me about a month ago that they were interested in carrying the book in their stores, which is wonderful, but now there is the potential that I Dare You To Eat It will be available at Barnes & Noble, Amazon.com, and even Sam’s club. (The distributor confessed that they jumped the gun and already sent the book to Sam’s.) We’ll see what we see.

One of my favorite responses came from my own daughter. When I told her the news she busted out laughing and said, “Well dummy, you sure wasted a lot of time on that interior design stuff!”

Wow, you really are too nice! I’m just happy that someone is willing to experiment with national distribution. I HOPE it will prove successful. It would be great if the easy suggestions for building and using food storage could move beyond the L.D.S. community. This whole opportunity has been much bigger than what I ever expected. Just have to see how it goes. Thank you Kris!

Congratulations Liesa! That is great news.

That is so awesome Liesa! The timing for a receptive audience couldn’t be better. I’ll have you know I’ve got pinto beans from my food storage simmering in the crockpot right now. Turns out my 4 year old loves pureed bean soup. Yay! Easy, healthy, and cheap. That’s what it’s all about.

  5. Liesa Says:

Thank you Heidi! I hope they sell!

Hey Bonnie! Thank you and I hope you’re right. Will you share your pinto bean soup recipe??? You’re doing a great thing there. I think its great!

I work at the corporate office for Deseret Book and am always glad to see great books like this come across the shelves of the stores. Good for you for writing a book, getting it published and then available not only at Deseret Book but also working toward getting it out to other great chains. Good luck!

Congratulations Liesa! Good things come to those who wait and to those who share their knowledge and testimony of ways to follow the commandments and make our lives a little easier each day. I’m checking out those books stores……

  9. Liesa Says:

Thank you Melanie! The distributor said that the normal waiting period for a book to make it to the shelf is about 4 weeks for LDS stores and more like 12 weeks for all the other stores. So, don’t waste your time checking the book stores yet…

Thank you so much Eric! I felt nervous when I dropped off a copy at Deseret Book. I had been advised to set up a formal meeting with one of their buyers…but it was Dec. 31st…about an hour before the corporated office was closing…and I just decided to GO FOR IT.
Basically, I handed the book to the receptionist, she slapped a sticky note on it with my phone number, and then I prayed all the way back to my car. Still nervous, but it felt pretty good to accomplish that goal before the start of the new year. Thanks for caring.

Wow! You go girl, I have to say i”m not at all shocked. It is one amazing book and your web site is a must read each and every week. I so look forward to it. Will you still be my friend when Oprah calls you. Ha. Love ya.

  12. Liesa Says:

Yea, right Lynda. If Oprah calls it’s going to be because she’s finally found out and is mad about those lights I used on one of my jobs that were supposed to be for her house! Soooorrry!
