MY CROCK-POTS ARE GETTING BIGGER

But as you can see from the picture, I’m able to cook 4 cups of wheat in 10 cups of water with a tablespoon of salt, for 12 cups of whole wheat berries and still have plenty of room in this new slow cooker. My life is so cool. I’m trying to cook this much wheat about every ten days so that I always have it prepared and ready to add to recipes. The very first step to eating wheat is to start cooking wheat.

Here’s a short list of new recipes I’ve found. They all sound wonderful. I can’t tell you how sick I am of Ranch dressing.

I’ve been quietly reading this blog for a while, and I love the idea of using wheat in place of meat! But, like you mentioned, I have to actually cook it! I think I’ll get out my crock pot today and get started on that right away!

Good job Steph! Faith in every footstep! Go cautiously on the total meat exchange. 50/50 wheat/meat is a safe way to start. I think that one of the problems…from the 70’s, clearly a confusing time for everyone, was that people began using wheat in EVERYTHING. (Oops. Another overdose.) You’re part of the hip, now generation, so you can approach wheat with a fresh perspective, open to all possibilities. (enough mothering) Do exactly what you said, and get it cooked. Then you can begin adding it as a gourmet ingredient with superior health benefits. Marketing matters.
