JUST SAY NO
Earlier this week, I was contacted by a company that graciously invited me to mention their food storage products. I think I’m going to pass on that opportunity. Not that I have anything against fancy shelving! I just don’t want to promote the message that we need fancy shelving in order to successfully manage our food storage.
This is what we do. Lay two long sticks of wood on the floor. I think we use 2 x 4’s. Then we stack our food storage boxes on top of the boards so that air can circulate. Done. That’s our shelving system. We stack the boxes. It doesn’t have to be fancy.

Same here…another help is to put 6 different cans of items in each box, or at least mix the boxes up a bit and then label the boxes so that you don’t have to take everything down to get to the bottom box. It also helps to label the top of the can so you can identify the contents without taking all the cans out of the box. I have better things to do than constantly hunt for a specific can of food.

Cool idea Kris. Way to mix it up. (Obviously there’s a creative head on your shoulders.) Because I keep my food storage in separate stacks, like seven little towers right next to each other, I just take one can out of the top case and keep moving down as I use the products. I like this system because I can instantly iventory my supply. It looks like a bar graph. Every time I walk by, I can SEE where I’m getting low.
